WWE RAW Review: 5 Things We Learned (5/5/2014)

3. Sheamus Is The New WWE US Heavyweight Champion

In the opening match to this week's RAW, The Authority held a 20 Man Over-The-Top Battle Royal for the WWE US Heavyweight Championship. The match resulted in the crowning of a new champion, Sheamus, who then teased a heel turn with a backstage promo following the match. Dean Ambrose has lost the title that he held for well over 300 days, a move that served no significant purpose after about the first month or so of Ambrose's initial title win. http://youtu.be/BQ1SlUSEYrU With a Sheamus heel turn on the horizon, this move is the right call. Sheamus' act has grown stale in recent months, and this is a nice way to breathe some fresh life into his character. It also provides yet another opportunity for WWE to try and make something of that US Championship title, a belt that was very prestigious in the early NWA and later WCW years. Hopefully WWE can make some strides in the department, or work towards a unification match with the Intercontinental Title sometime soon, preferably SummerSlam.
