WWE RAW Review: The Elimination Chamber Go-Home Show
Ahh, this week it seems to be Sandows turn to get beat by Alberto Del Rio. The match was a quick affair, with ADR getting an easy victory. After the match, Alberto Del Rio talks about how he is going to go to Wrestlemania as the champion, etc. In the three weeks since I took over doing RAW reviews, it has become abundantly clear how often this short matches that lead into promos are actually happening. I understand that talking and feuding are part of wrestling, but sheesh, it seems like every match tonight had some sort of post-match talking. I get that it is the go-home show before the PPV, but either have a good match or a promo.
No other sport does this. If Kobe Bryant or Peyton Manning score for their team, they dont immediately go to the sideline and do an interview. Every once in a while its ok, but almost every match last night had the pre-match lead in to talking. It should be the other way around. Especially when a match that could be good gets cut short just to make time for the promo.
BACKSTAGE SEGMENTBo Dallas attacks Wade Barrett backstage. Normally, I dont comment on a lot of backstage stuff because they cut backstage so often, but I enjoyed Bo Dallas attacking Barrett backstage. It furthered an intriguing storyline of an up and coming star and another more established young star. I look forward to see what the Dallas/Barrett story has in store.
KOFI KINGSTON VS WADE BARRETTKofi Kingston isnt a bad wrestler by any means, but man, its like every mid-card match for the past 4 years has involved Kofi Kingston jumping around. The penultimate of this was the never ending matches he had with Dolph Ziggler a few years ago. Wade Barrett vs Kofi Kingston is a match weve seen before, and unfortunately, will probably see again. Wade selling the injury backstage during the match was good though. Really liked that Wade won despite the backstage assault. Kofi also had the cool spot where he hit the splash from the second rope.
Overall, I hope that this puts an end to Kofi Kingston VS The 7 Evil Ex-Intercontinental Champions or whatever. Kofi Kingston works for what he is, but he is never going to be a legit title contender when his move list consists of Jumping and Using furniture to circumvent the rules of the Royal Rumble.
