WWE Reacts To Bizarre Je'Von Evans Off-Camera Contract Signing (WWE News)

Even some backstage were baffled by the way WWE handled that Je'Von Evans moment on Raw.

Fans watching on Netflix in the United States likely missed Je'Von Evans inking his Raw deal with GM Adam Pearce during Monday's 5 January flagship. The segment took place during a commercial break. Things were different internationally; WWE programming often continues during ad breaks in the UK and elsewhere, so this wasn't an issue.

Internally, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, some behind the scenes at WWE also thought the formatting was a little funky. The good news is that, whilst "many were puzzled by the situation", company sources have also "insisted it wasn't an indication of their view on Evans".

Triple H and other WWE higher ups are...well...high on Je'Von. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp did receive word that some Raw segments "went heavy" and that led to a shortage of time, but he wasn't able to 100% confirm that this was the case. It doesn't, however, appear to have been a deliberate attempt to sabotage the NXT > main roster newbie.

That would've been daft, if so.

Evans is just one of the latest developmental names to get called up to either Raw or SmackDown. Reportedly, WWE has huge plans for now-former NXT Champ Oba Femi, and others such as Jordynne Grace, Sol Ruca and Joe Hendry have been spotlighted on the main roster too.

Je'Von's latest match was a win over tag star Julius Creed. That was taped on 5 January for an edition of 'C' show Main Event. Again, the wonky nature of his contract announcement isn't reflective of internal opinion on Evans. He has a bright future to look forward to.
