WWE Rejected Matt Hardy's 'Broken Block' Idea For Raw

This could've been gold...

Matt Hardy told PWInsider that WWE ignored one of his best ideas.

The recently-released veteran wanted to help under-utilised workers like Ali, Apollo Crews, Shorty G and more by producing a segment called the 'Broken Block'. There, WWE's most overlooked roster members would get to shine in hot matches, interact with Matt and put across more of their personality to fans.

Hardy only wanted 15 minutes per episode to trial his concept and see if it had legs, but WWE didn't fancy it at all. Matt couldn't understand that; to him, variety was everything, and this segment was one that could help everyone. The writers would have easy content to fill a quarter hour with, underused worked would get more screen time and Hardy would be able to nurture young talent.

He ended up getting word from creative that Vince McMahon hadn't answered the pitch. In other words, he flat out rubber-eared it and didn't think it was a winner.

That frustration over the 'Broken Block' wasn't the only reason why Matt left WWE. At 45 years old, he says he needs to be used properly and the company weren't doing that.
