WWE: Was The Rock's 2011-2013 Return Electrifying Or A Short Circuit?
He Laid The Smacketh Down
This is going to seem like a trivial point and in some ways it is but I think it is one worth mentioning. When one looks at the part timers on the WWE roster most of them are faces (except for Brock Lesnar and recently Triple H). However, when these guys return they don't usually interact with heels that are not on their immediate radar. So heels that are not on the top rung of the ladder often don't get the chance of having a segment with these icons of the WWE- simply because wrestling doesn't really work like that. Nobody would interrupt Triple H- he's the COO of the company and it would look weird, and it would be even dumber if a midcarder interrupted the Undertaker. But the Rock? That's part of his schtick! Rock comes out to do a promo- some heel interrupts him during his interactions with the crowd and the crowd are outraged by this heinous act. They do a bit of back and forth before the Rock lays the Smackdown and everyone is happy. The crowd feel the Rock has 'brought it' while the heel gets some time with the Great One, showing that they can work with him. And if you don't think this is a big deal, remember this is how Chris Jericho entered the WWE. So with all these things going for the idea, why are people so down on the venture?
