5. Chris Jericho

A year ago, Chris Jericho entered the Royal Rumble at number six and lasted over 50 minutes before being tossed by eventual runner-up Dean Ambrose. It was an impressive night for Kevin Owens' best friend, but the 2017 Rumble could be even bigger for Chris.

Having just turned 46 years old, Jericho is in the middle of quite possibly the best run of his career. Rivaling his 2008 heel run based on Anton Chigurh (No Country For Old Men), the villainous character that Chris Jericho is playing right now has been praised by wrestling fans all over the world. A babyface run against current best friend and WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens is imminent and a Royal Rumble victory could be the the road that gets him there.

With Owens currently holding Raw's world title, there's a decent chance he'll walk into WrestleMania 33 as the Universal Champion. Should that be the case, and Owens is able to thwart off threats from Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and others between now and April 2, 2017, his opponent is almost certain to be Chris Jericho.

The Owens/Jericho break-up is coming, no doubt, making Jericho winning the Royal Rumble a very logical option.
