The Undertaker’s post-Rumble plans are very much up in the air at the moment. It was widely assumed that 'Taker would face John Cena at WrestleMania 33, but those rumours have since been blown out of the water. We also know that Undertaker won’t be fighting for a championship (nor will he fight Braun Strowman), and that he’ll instead face an alternative member of the Raw roster.

These strict criteria effectively rule-out all of Raw’s biggest stars, and on first glance, WWE look a little short on options for WrestleMania’s biggest icon. Scratch the surface, however, and the company have an outstanding choice to face The Undertaker, even if his immediate future is a mystery at the moment.

Finn Bálor has been sidelined since wrestling Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. He was originally pegged to miss six months, but recently appeared at WWE’s UK Tournament and even engaged in a small physical spot at ICW’s Fear & Loathing pay-per-view in November. Bálor has himself ruled-out the possibility of a Rumble appearance, but he’s not exactly going to give the surprise away (if he’s ready), and there’s strong speculation that he might return ahead of schedule a la John Cena in 2008.

WWE are likely going to make Taker’s Road to WrestleMania a whole lot clearer in the Rumble, and The Deadman vs. The Demon King would be an incredible spectacle. Bálor has previously said that he’d love to face 'Taker at WrestleMania, and if he is ready, there’s no good reason to not pull-off this epic spot.
