WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 10 Surprise Entrants We Could See

5. John Cena

John Cena
WWE

If John Cena does dust off his wrestling boots for the Royal Rumble, it'll be the first time he has competed in a WWE ring since the 14 January 2019 episode of Raw, when he competed in a number one contender's bout featuring Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, and the winner, Finn Balor. Though he has appeared on television since then (with WrestleMania 35's 'Doctor of Thugonomics' reprisal a fun highlight), returning would end the longest in-ring hiatus of his run as a part-timer.

It was stated in December that Cena would have a part to play at 'Mania 36, with WrestlingNews.co's Paul Davis claiming that the belief within WWE was that the 16-time World Champion would be wrestling on the show. In addition, WrestleVotes have claimed a "substantial role" for 'Big Match John' in Tampa.

So maybe he enters the Rumble, maybe he wins it, and maybe that leads to his record-breaking 17th World Title?

It'd drive many a WWE fan around the bend and probably isn't the wisest booking choice, though it shouldn't be ruled out entirely. Regardless, Cena is one of the biggest surprise names WWE could execute on 26 January.
