Paige's name has barely been out of the Royal Rumble rumour mill for weeks, with numerous wrestling media outlets hinting at the former WWE Divas Champion's comeback in this year's bout.

Much of it stemmed from this teasing tweet made by Paige herself:-

The former SmackDown General Manager was in a more playful mood over the weekend:-

Whatever the case, the story isn't going away until 26 January finally passes us by, and that Triple H called a Paige comeback "a matter of personal choice" prior to NXT TakeOver UK: Blackpool II, before correcting himself and adding "medical clearance" to his list of barriers, has only strengthened the chatter.

The last notch on Paige's bump card came in December 2017, when she was hurt shortly after returning from a 17-month absence. She was forced into retirement a few months later, her neck seemingly too badly damaged for her to ever be cleared again, though she has continued in a number of non-wrestling roles since. Her latest sees her sit as a regular panellist on WWE Backstage, which was supposed to bring a "major career announcement" that never came a few weeks ago.

This one's far fetched, admittedly, but it could happen.
