WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 10 Surprise Entrants We Could See

3. Edge

We have now reached the stage that one could justifiably argue that Edge appearing in this year's Royal Rumble wouldn't even be a surprise anymore, given how frequently wrestling media has reported on the situation. Regardless, an unannounced appearance would still be a "surprise" by definition, so here he is.

Edge's situation is almost identical to Paige's, particularly as both just signed new multi-year contracts with WWE, but there's one key difference: we've seen 'The Rated R Superstar' engage in physical activity recently. Granted, it was only a spear at SummerSlam 2019, but it was still a big surprise given the way Edge's career ended, and a big reason why he's being talked about as a potential Rumble entrant.

The idea that WWE can protect his injured neck in the Rumble needs to be shot down, though. This is wrestling. A fraction of a millimetre can be the difference between a safe bump and a career-threatening bump, with the risks obviously amplified for someone in Edge's position. He can't really be protected at all: he's either clear or not clear, and that's up for the doctors to determine.
