WWE Royal Rumble 2022: Ranking Likelihood Of 10 Potential Surprise Entrants

8. Jay White (Probability 2/10)

Moose Impact
NJPW

This time last year, one of the biggest names rumored to be heading to WWE was 'Switchblade' Jay White. He was a free agent after a successful run in New Japan Pro Wrestling that saw him become the first Grand Slam Champion in NJPW history, winning the IWGP Heavyweight, United States and Intercontinental Championships as well as the NEVER Openweight Championship.

Switchblade had made his desires known to leave New Japan and rumors were rampant he was heading to WWE. Additionally, there was strong interest from WWE to bring in the leader of the Bullet Club as soon as he was contractually able to arrive. However, all that changed when the New Zealander returned to NJPW a few weeks later.

Jay White has spent a large portion of the pandemic in the United States helping to grow the New Japan STRONG brand, which leads many to believe he is firmly in the NJPW camp. Even though he missed this month's Wrestle Kingdom event, fans should not take this as a sign that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is headed to WWE or the Royal Rumble match.
