WWE Royal Rumble 2025: 10 Surprise Entrants We Could See

4. Wade Barrett

B...b...b-b-b-b-b-b...BOOM!

It felt harsh when WWE dismissed the relatively new duo of Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett once Raw jumped to Netflix. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee were deemed the better commentary pairing, which means ol' Wade will have to be happy with a gig on SmackDown again. Fair enough, he'll make the best of it. He might even return to the ring for a match or two as well.

Rumours are rife that management wants to pull the trigger on a showdown between real-life friends Barrett and Drew McIntyre as soon as humanly possible. If true, then there'd be no better time to kickstart that process than during 2025's Rumble. Drew would be out for blood if someone like Wade waltzed out from behind the announce desk and eliminated him from a match he won in 2020.

That could, in theory, lead to something between the pair at WrestleMania 41. It's a little far fetched, granted, but anyone who has paid attention to this wacky industry in recent years will know fine well not to rule anything out. Wade Barrett wrestling again is hardly the most outlandish thing that's happened around these parts lately!

It'd still be some surprise though. Not many would see it coming if the Rumble countdown lapsed, nobody came out, then Wade appeared out of nowhere seconds later with a mic to say he's "afraid [he] has some bad news". That "bad news" would be McIntyre's - he'd be dumped out of the brawl, then Barrett could start training for 'Mania.

Hey, it's a thought.
