WWE SmackDown: 10 Things You May Have Missed (Nov 1)

It shouldn't be forgotten that James Ellsworth enhanced SmackDown's main event...

Who could've guessed that mere months into the latest WWE brand extension, a lowly jobber would be one of the focal points of a revamped SmackDown Live show? That man is James Ellsworth, a piece of enhancement talent that continues to get involved in the WWE Title situation between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose.

This week, Ellsworth was shown being thrown from the building by Ambrose himself after being told by Daniel Bryan that he wasn't to interfere in the main event. That headliner had Dean going up against AJ, a win giving Ambrose number one contender status.

Naturally, Ellsworth didn't listen. His presence at ringside was welcome though, and that's something explored in this article along with numerous other little nuances and hidden gems from the latest episode of SmackDown.

Elsewhere, there are cross-brand challenges for the WWE Intercontinental Title and subtle heel characteristics to explore, as well as things that SmackDown really has to stop doing in order to stand out on its own.

Let's look at ten things you may just have overlooked on SmackDown Live...

10. James Ellsworth Got A Bigger Initial Pop Than Dean Ambrose

As soon as this week's SmackDown Live broadcast started, James Ellsworth's name flashed up on the screen, his entrance music played, and the man made his way to the ring. The purpose of Ellsworth coming out was that he wished to apologise for effectively causing Dean Ambrose to get disqualified last week.

Those listening intently to the live crowd would have noticed one thing: Not only did James Ellsworth get a fairly sizeable pop when he came through the curtain, the noise made for him was actually louder than the cheering for Dean Ambrose when he came out onto the entrance ramp.

That's insane to imagine: a lowly enhancement talent actually received a louder response from a WWE crowd than an established star. To top things off, AJ Styles got the biggest pop of the trio when he came out, again cementing that Dean Ambrose needs something different in order to remain part of the main event pack.

Shifting focus back to Ellsworth for a moment, he was treated like a star by the vast majority of the fans all night.
