WWE SmackDown: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (Dec 27)

Last week, The Miz angered Renee Young by publicly outing her real-life relationship with Dean Ambrose on SmackDown. Many fans already knew about the romance, yet WWE had never officially recognised it on shows like Raw or SmackDown. Embarrassed by Miz's curt tone, Young slapped the reigning Intercontinental Champion.

That story continued on this week's show, where Miz refused to grant an interview to anybody but Renee. When Young eventually agreed to do the work, the heel champion dismissed his own personal security force and kept up his bullying of Renee. That's when Ambrose, disguised as security himself, attacked.

Later in the program, a graphic was shown on screen and the announcers revealed that Dean Ambrose will challenge The Miz for the Intercontinental Title on next week's broadcast. This means that SmackDown will feature another title bout for the first episode of the new year.

The graphic didn't stay on screen for long; this was a blink and you'll miss it kind of announcement which fell just after a commercial break and in the middle of entrances for the main event.
