Raw did a fine job teasing fans that "The Underdog From The Underground" would be remaining on Raw, with the neurotic young superstar constantly pestering new General Manager Kurt Angle regarding his future. There's been rumors that Zayn has been booked this way because it's a reflection of his grating real life persona - something even real life best friend Kevin Owens corroborated on a recent podcast interview.

Sami had been struggling on Raw, handled like a child that didn't know what was good for him, with former GM Mick Foley treating Zayn as if he were a toddler playing on a trampoline surrounded by a safety net while all the other kids were free to jump around unprotected. It was frustrating to watch.

Eventually, the underdog needs to pull out a win before the line between underdog and loser gets a little too blurry.

Sami Zayn now has a fresh start on SmackDown Live, a show that focuses more on workrate and in-ring action rather than drama and pageantry. He should fit in a tad better. Sami is one of the best wrestling talents in the world, and the opportunity to face off with some of the new faces on the blue brand is thrilling.

As long as it's not Kevin Owens. Let's take a break from that one for a while, WWE.
