WWE taped Smackdown in Buffalo, New York and with Battleground set to take place in five weeks there's a lot of time to build up their current storylines. Here are some notes on what happened during the show. Sheamus started the show off with a promo saying nobody will be able to stop him. Dean Ambrose showed up to say Roman Reigns would have won Money in the Bank if Bray Wyatt didn't interfere. Kane showed up to make a handicap match with the two heels against Ambrose. Kane and Sheamus had a match with Ambrose that ended with a disqualification when Roman Reigns showed up to spear Kane and save Ambrose. That led to an announcement of a tag match between the four men later in the show. Brie Bella beat Paige thanks to some interference from Alicia Fox, who knocked Paige off the ropes leading to Brie pinning her soon after. Kevin Owens did a promo bragging about hurting John Cena and blamed Cena for what he did to Machine Gun Kelly too. He said there would be no NXT Title match, but Cesaro ended up challenging Owens to a match later in the show. Dolph Ziggler beat Bo Dallas in a short match. After the match, Lana kissed Ziggler while Rusev watched and was furious about it. Neville beat Xavier Woods with the Red Arrow. The Prime Time Players showed up to prevent Big E and Kofi Kingston from interfering. The WWE Champion Seth Rollins did a promo about how's the best wrestler in WWE and people still disrespect him. Rollins said he needed to defeat Lesnar to cement his legacy and promised that he would beat Lesnar at Battleground. Kevin Owens beat Cesaro with the Popup Powerbomb. It was said to be the best match of the night, which isn't surprising considering how good they are in the ring. The Smackdown main event saw Kane and Sheamus beat Ambrose and Reigns. They won because Bray Wyatt appeared on the video screen causing Reigns to be distracted. In the dark match, Reigns and Ambrose beat Rollins and Wyatt to send the fans home happy. Thanks to Prowrestling.net for the results of the show.
