WWE Stomping Grounds: 8 Last-Minute Rumours You Need To Know

4. Sheamus Returns

Another one to file under the Potential Universal Championship Referee category, and with Cesaro balls deep in the half-hearted mid-card singles push we'd all been waiting for, the stage is set for Sheamus to return in a similar capacity. He's not been seen since April and there had been talk that he was set to retire, but other members of the locker room have since played that claim down.

While it's unknown precisely what the nature of his injury is or exactly when he's expected to return, a slow reintroduction in an officiating capacity is apparently on the table. If his social media claims are anything to go off he's currently in the best shape he has been for years so presumably would't be too much to hit a Brogue Kick and count the three.

This revelation would go against claims in recent weeks that there is no scheduled return date for him, but we've seen examples in the past of WWE drafting in injured stars for quick appearances, purely to remind the audience they exist. Rate this one extremely unlikely but, as ever, it's an option that's open to them and the man himself would likely jump at it.
