WWE SummerSlam 2014: 10 Things We Expect To Happen

5. Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

WWE.comWWE.comChris Jericho's recent return to WWE took the wrestling world by surprise. After all, he had recently launched a very successful podcast titled "Talk is Jericho" and was in the middle of a successful tour with his band Fozzy. Add to that his downplaying of any involvement with WWE or any wrestling company and there was reason to believe that he was content to focus on his ventures away from the squared circle. So when news broke prior to Raw hitting the USA Network airwaves and he made his triumphant return, interrupting The Miz to the delight of the fans, it was a major occurrence. Making it that much more memorable was the attack by the Wyatt Family that left Jericho lying and ignited a program between Y2J and Bray that should carry into SummerSlam, if not well past it. The Reaper of Souls, alongside Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, left Jericho lying in a heap, ruining what was to be the renaissance of the former Undisputed champion. Four days later on SmackDown, Wyatt warned Jericho to save himself rather than trying to save others. Jericho responded by threatening that he could get crazy if that is what the cult-like leader really wanted. It is almost a guarantee that Jericho and Wyatt will clash at Battleground. After all, most of the midcard will be involved in Battle Royal to determine the new Intercontinental champion and WWE will have to deliver matches that convince fans to purchase the show outside of the huge main event. Jericho vs. Wyatt is one such match. But, like Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose, the feud between Y2J and Bray Wyatt should climax in a major singles bout at SummerSlam. With the star power unquestionable and the build likely to feature outstanding promo work, it should have a great deal of heat behind it as it enters Los Angeles' Staples Center for its latest, and greatest, chapter. Expect Jericho to put Wyatt over in a way that WWE Creative was less comfortable with during the third-generation star's feud with John Cena while still managing to come out of the match looking better than he did going in.
