WWE SummerSlam 2017 Card Fans Want (But Won’t Get)

Best case scenario: Randy Orton regains the WWE title from Jinder Mahal at Battleground, while Owens - despite failing to win back the US belt - somehow comes out of his match with AJ looking strong.

Reality: there's every chance Orton will walk out of Battleground as WWE Champion. Jinder has twice needed the help of the Singh Brothers to get the better of the Viper, and there's much less scope for interference with the addition of the Punjabi Prison stipulation.

Problem is, there's no guarantee Owens will be his next challenger - particularly after Baron Corbin's Money in the Bank win.

Whilst KO has only recently dropped the US belt, recent mid-card title history tells us WWE are not averse to throwing in the odd two-week reign curve-ball.

It would surprise few to see Owens - whose "Face of America" shtick has really only just began - immediately regain his title, presumably taking him out of the running for SmackDown's big one for now.
