WWE SummerSlam 2025: 12 Nightmares That Could Come True

1. The Rock Returns Then Vanishes Again

A lot of folks still aren’t over how rubbish it was that The Rock played such a massive part in John Cena’s heel turn then vanished after Elimination Chamber. His 'Final Boss' character didn’t play a part in events at WrestleMania 41 either, and that was really rather disappointing. His absence has come back up in the chat since WWE Unreal launched on Netflix, which might prompt the ‘Final Boss’ to interfere in the main event between Cena and Cody at SummerSlam to put things right.

If Rocky does, then he better stick around for a while. It’d be murder for fans if his 'Final Boss' guise returned, did something major, then disappeared all over again after the latest PLE. Pitchforks would be out for WWE's creative team and Triple H if they booked that for Sunday's show without knowing for sure that The Rock could do some follow up dates.

A true nightmare outcome would be Cody turning heel (that isn't the problematic bit) then siding with The Rock by selling his soul to the 'Final Boss'. All sounds pretty funky, right? Yeah, well imagine it without any Rock involvement on episodes of Raw or SmackDown for months afterwards. No context, no explanation, no proper follow through.

Just a one-off angle to pop some interest, do some impressive numbers on socials/YouTube, then...off he goes back to Hollywood yet again. WWE fans deserve better than that, especially if The Rock is part of a second huge heel turn in 2025 without saying his piece on the mic about it.

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
