WWE SummerSlam Live Review - 10 Interesting Observations You Need To Know

6. Roman Reigns Should Probably Avoid Brooklyn

Poor Roman Reigns. Just as he's finally started winning back some of that support he lost after his Royal Rumble victory earlier this year, the Brooklyn crowd delighted in tearing him apart at SummerSlam. Everything he did was met with boos, though some "Hounds Of Justice" chants did kick off early on, and the crowd seemed to warm to him at least a little after that Shield style powerbomb. Overall though, the guy could not catch a break, with Ambrose the clear favourite, and both Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper also getting a great response (at least whenever they were attacking Roman). All in all, this wasn't a match which the crowd seemed super into. A clear highlight however came when Roman's extended absence was picked up on, and the "Roman's Sleeping" chants kicked off. It's hard to say whether it was planned or not, but almost immediately after they started, Reigns suddenly got up from outside the ring and made his way back in for a hot tag. Even so, the crowd definitely delighted in giving him a hard time, and as one partner being out of action for an extended period of time (usually after being taken out from a fairly standard move) is one of the WWE's more annoying tropes, it was pretty damn funny to see this addressed with such a fun chant.
