WWE: The Complete WrestleMania 29 Review

Chris Jericho vs Fandango

For the past few years Jericho has made a living putting other people over constantly. Fandango is a fresh new talent with tons of potential who is not only making his in-ring debut but desperately needs the rub of beating Jericho at the showcase of immortals. So it may come as a bit of a surprise that Jericho spends a good portion of the match making Fandango look like a total jobber as he takes control for nearly it's entirety. Fandango gets a fair amount of offense in, and it looks pretty good, but he seemed far more concerned with dancing than wrestling, and his showboating cost him dearly, as Jericho fired up with vicious chops and takedowns. Jericho looked fantastic as he beat Fandango around the ring and outside it, pulling out moves like a flying crossbody to the outside to pull the crowd in. The fans, while never fully invested, got behind Jericho completely as he pandered to them and the atmosphere (which began to be created following outstanding entrances from both men) was energetic and fun throughout the bout. Although the two tried their best, their lack of history with each other created an obvious lack of chemistry and a multitude of miscommunications plagued the bout. A tremendous example of this miscommunication came with the finish, as Jericho attemped the lionsault with Fandango too close to the ropes, and while Fandango got his knees up Jericho overshot him completely, leading to an awkward attempt to lock in the walls only for Fandango to roll him up for the win. A fun match, but nothing more. **3/4
