Similar to the ambush and beat down delivered to The Shield in 2014, Evolution perfected the pack mentality of taking out opponents as early as 2003. One such example occurred at the 2003 Summerslam pay per view in which, despite the absence of an injured Batista, both Randy Orton and Triple H would participate in the second ever Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship. This match was the first main event pay per view to feature multiple Evolution members in the same match as singles competitors, introducing the WWE audience to the notion that Ortons primary motive in the match was to ensure Evolution leader Triple H won the World Heavyweight Championship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpQbnVNlZ1U Ric Flair would accompany Triple H to ringside and in the closing stages of the match, pass Triple H a sledgehammer which Triple H would use to deflect an explosive spear from Goldberg. Triple H would pin Goldberg to win the World title but what makes this moment a top Evolution moment is the fact that even after a match where the pack mentality was used to ensure a Triple H win, Flair, Orton and Triple H would descend on a defenceless Goldberg, and like a pack of wolves systematically beat Goldberg in front of a shocked WWE audience. This moment proved that Evolution was dynamic enough to work without Batista as a three piece stable and set the precedent for how Evolution would utilise the pack mentality when it came to overcoming its obstacles and opponents.
