Is the Wednesday Night War already over?

With this week and next week’s episode of NXT TV taking place on a Tuesday night, there’s rumblings that the WWE may end up permanently moving NXT from its regular Wednesday night slot.

As per the usually reliable @WrestleVotes, WWE officials have spent the past month or so discussing moving NXT from Wednesday to another night of the week. Any final decision on such a move has yet to be made, but talks are said to still be ongoing.

Rather than airing in its usual spot tonight, this week’s NXT took place last night due to the NHL Playoffs. Likewise, the NHL has caused WWE and USA Network to shift next week’s gold and black brand outing from Wednesday to Tuesday.

The current plan as of now, is for NXT to resume its regular Wednesday night slot as of September 16, although the ratings for this week and next week’s shows could well have a major impact on what day of the week NXT airs on moving forward.

If NXT does move from that Wednesday spot, it’s not definite that Tuesday will be the brand’s new destination.

Of course, if NXT no longer airs on a Wednesday then that will take the show out of the head-to-head battle with AEW Dynamite. If Tuesday does become NXT’s new home, that would instead put the product up against IMPACT Wrestling.
