WWE Trialing New Tag-Team Push After SmackDown?

SmackDown's dark match main event could drop hints about WWE's future plans.

Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano will team up vs. The Usos following Friday's episode of SmackDown.

The real-life pals have teamed up several times (on TV and during house shows) since September, but this could be a considered a trial of sorts for things to come. It's worth noting that Jimmy and Jey will also defend their Undisputed Tag belts vs. Sheamus and Butch on SmackDown, meaning The Usos are pulling double duty in Pittsburgh.

They'll collide with KO and Gargano once WWE's cameras stop rolling - fans in PA are about to get one hell of a dark match main event, basically.

Is this a sign of things to come? Could be. Triple H might be seeing how SmackDown's crowd reacts to Gargano and Owens as a tag-team. They previously worked over on Raw opposite Alpha Academy, but have only wrestled The Usos on live events.

It's not uncommon for WWE to trial matches they're interested in booking on TV/pay-per-view during these TV taping dark spots. Look out for Gargano and KO possibly challenging for the belts on camera soon then.

What a match that'd be.
