WWE United Kingdom Championship To Be Renamed?
WALTER's big shiny belt could be set for big changes.
It looks like WWE could be on the verge of renaming their United Kingdom Championship.
This is according to a new report from PWInsider, who note that there has been talk of the promotion rechristening WALTER's belt the WWE NXT UK Championship so that it's in line with the rest of the titles on their British brand, which makes sense.
WALTER is currently 287 days into his reign with NXT UK's top prize. He took it from Pete Dunne in an acclaimed NXT TakeOver: New York bout last year and has since mounted successful defences against 'The Bruiserweight' in his rematch, Travis Banks, Tyler Bate, and most recently, Joe Coffey, who was felled at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II last week.
There's currently no word on whom the Austrian will face next, though this could emerge during this weekend's NXT UK TV tapings.
It's worth noting that WALTER's successful defence over Coffey was his first in four months. The belt hasn't been all that active since he took it, which is a double-edged sword: some might argue that it enhances the strap's prestige, others would say that making it less visible undermines it.
