Could we see Sting at the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame?

With Lex Luger to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next month, that could well mean that we've not quite seen the last of Sting in the WWE.

As per Fightful Select, not just is the Stinger Luger's "preferred choice" to induct him, but WWE is also seemingly keen for the Icon to take on that role. This report notes how WWE planned to make "overtures" to Sting for the HOF gig, adding that those overtures may have already happened.

From the moment it was announced that Lex Luger was to be a part of the WWE Hall of Fame 2025 Class, speculation began on who exactly would be inducting the Total Package. Names such as DDP, Cody Rhodes, and Ric Flair cropped up in fan chatter, but the obvious standout option was clearly Sting.

While Sting hung up his boots in spectacular fashion at AEW Revolution 2024 - an insane tornado tag match with Darby Allin against the Young Bucks - the 15-time World Champion is still under contract with AEW, having signed a Legends-type deal with Tony Khan's promotion.

It's unclear whether AEW would need to give approval for Sting to appear at the WWE Hall of Fame, and this Fightful report also mentions how Sting himself has told people that he "probably" wouldn't be able to do the HOF due to his AEW deal. However, the 66-year-old - himself a part of the WWE Hall of Fame 2016 Class, and who actually celebrates his birthday today - was originally scheduled to be in Las Vegas during WrestleMania Weekend for a "limited schedule", but that stay has now been "expanded".

The Sting & Lex Luger Relationship

While many will rightly think of Ric Flair when thinking of the career of Sting, someone else who played a major role throughout the Stinger's WCW run and beyond was Lex Luger.

The two men first tangled in 1987, with Luger successfully defending the NWA United States Title against Sting for Mid-Atlantic. For the next 15 years, the two would be the best of friends and the worst of enemies, and each would also have spells as part of the Four Horsemen, and would later be part of the nWo Wolfpac together. It was Luger who Sting defeated at SuperBrawl 1992 to embark on Sting's first run as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, while the two would have a six-month run as the WCW Tag Team Champions in 1996, taking those belts from Harlem Heat before losing them back to Booker T and Stevie Ray later in the year. The two had also previously won the Crockett Cup back in 1988, too. As for the last time they shared a ring, that was in 2003 for TNA, with Sting teaming with AJ Styles to pick up a win over Luger and Jeff Jarrett.

Away from the ring, the real-life Larry Pfohl and Steve Borden have long been close friends, with Luger crediting Sting with helping him get his life back on track through his faith.

In a perfect world, it's a no-brainer that Sting would be the one to induct Lex Luger into the WWE Hall of Fame. Whether that ultimately comes together, we'll have to wait and see.

Taking place on Friday 18 April, the other names confirmed for the 2025 Hall of Fame right now are Triple H and Michelle McCool, with various reports also stating how the Natural Disasters are expected to be a part of this year's class.
