WWE Working On Three New TV Shows - Including Reality Series For Current Couple
Three new WWE TV projects are on the way in 2023.
During WWE's Q3 2022 earnings call (as per WrestlingHeadlines.com), Co-CEO Nick Khan has revealed that the company is working on three new TV projects through their WWE Studios banner.
Already in production on its first season, one of these shows will focus on current Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair and her husband Montez Ford. Premiering on Hulu at some point in 2023, said debut season will comprise of eight episodes. No further details - or a title - are known about this series at this early stage.
Elsewhere, another of these news shows will centre on WWE's impending talent search in Africa. Talent scouts are heading to Nigeria next week to commence this search, and the series coincides with the company's recent Showmax TV deal for the Sub-Saharan region of Africa. Much like the Belair and Ford offering, no loose premiere date has been given for this show bar that it's expected to air in 2023.
As for the third and final series, WWE Studios is partnering with Netflix for the Spanish-language Contra Las Cuerdas (Against the Ropes) show. Currently pencilled in for the first quarter of next year, this ten-episode series will centre on an aspiring female wrestler from Mexico. When Contra Las Cuerdas was initially announced back in April, the series was set to only air in Mexico. From this Q3 earnings call, though, no mention was made of the show being solely available in Mexico - although there was similarly no mention of Contra Las Cuerdas being available to a global audience.
