Another loss to AJ Lee would be a real come to Jesus moment for Becky Lynch. April 2026 is a crossroads in her WWE career, and it’s pretty clear that she’d be more effective working with younger talent than somebody like AJ Lee. The same goes AJ, come to think of it, but this match was always on the slate for WrestleMania 42.

Here, Lee should retain the Women’s Intercontinental Title then maybe drop it on the Raw after ‘Mania to a returning Paige or someone coming up from NXT as a homage to 2014. The most boring choice would be Becky regaining the strap. Serious question: Where would the booking go from there? Becks needs a bit more comeuppance to force change in her character.

Not many WWE fans actually want to boo her out of the building at this point in her run anyway. She's had so much longevity, and has battled back against a system that once seemed comfortable whilst ignoring her. The streets don't forget what the original concept of 'The Man' was all about.

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

A babyface renaissance for Lynch would work a treat heading into the summer months, not least if she adjusted her attitude and that ultimately brought her back into the title picture somewhere along the line. Nope, AJ will never be a full-time champ who appears on TV every single week, but she should last just long enough to put someone over big style 24 hours after 'Mania 42.

This is someone else's house, and it ain't Lee's...
