WWE's Bayley Reveals Names She Originally Wanted In Damage CTRL

WWE's Damage CTRL faction could have looked extremely different...

While Bayley nowadays finds herself lining up alongside IYO SKY and Dakota Kai as the villainous Damage CTRL faction, that wasn't always the way that the Role Model viewed this heel group coming together.

As noted by Bayley during a recent appearance on BT Sports' Ariel Helwani Meets..., she had long had plans to put together her own stable. And not just that, for the former Hugger originally envisioned Peyton Royce and Tegan Nox as being members of this group.

"It had a different group of people as the time went on. Peyton Royce was someone that I really wanted in there, and Tegan Nox was someone that I really wanted in there. There were a lot of people that it just kind of changed throughout time, and as people left the company and things like that. But Dakota was always... she's one of the OGs that I've always envisioned in this group."

Bayley also detailed how, if it was up to her, the group would consist of more than three wrestlers. In fact, she would add later in the interview that she would ideally like Damage CTRL to be made up of five female talents. When pushed on who those other two names would be, the California native refused to divulge any further information for fear of spoiling what could potentially lie ahead for Damage CTRL.

As for the name of the group, Bayley's first idea was for the faction to be labelled The Now.

"My first original one, I wanted it to be called The Now. To me, it was that I didn't care about the championships I won in the past. I don't care about what happens next. Like, these girls right here and what we're about to do, the present is all that matters. So, The Now was my first idea."

Of course, Damage CTRL came together as part of Bayley's return from injury at last year's SummerSlam. Having been out of action for a year due to a torn ACL, the four-time Women's Champion confronted Bianca Belair after the EST's successful Raw Women's Title defence against Becky Lynch.

As part of that return, Bayley would first be joined by the previously-released Dakota Kai, before that duo was then joined by NXT's IYO SKY, forming what would soon become known as Damage CTRL.

While Bayley herself has yet to win any more championship gold since returning to action, her stablemates Kai and SKY are currently in their midst of their second reign as WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. That said, the Damage CTRL duo will defend those titles on tonight's Raw against Becky Lynch and the legendary Lita.

In terms of what lies ahead for Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 39, many have speculated that it will be something involving Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus; be that possibly a six-woman tag match, or that being Bayley vs. Stratus in singles action while Lynch & Lita and Kai & SKY do battle over the Tag Team Championship in a bout that could also feature the tandem of Shayna Baszler & Ronda Rousey.
