Hell In A Cell 2019 was so bad that Seth Rollins later admitted he wanted to "strangle" Vinnie Mac.

One of the most respected and lauded gimmick matches ever, a match type that had stood proudly as the ultimate battleground since 1997, was rightly ridiculed when Rollins and Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' went to a non-finish. The official word? "Match stoppage".

The ref reasoned that Seth was going too far by pelting Bray's alter ego with weapons right at the tail end of this creative car crash. Behind the curtain, McMahon likely wondered what all the shouting and angry feedback was about. "We make movies, pal" - he might even have dusted off that gloat.

The 'C' in HIAC didn't stand for "Cell" here. It stood for "Creative". WWE's writers had mangled the cage stunt show so badly that those palming foreheads at the red lighting probably wished the arena had turned lights out entirely so they didn't have to watch the main event.

Rollins knew his time was up as a babyface after this. Being honest, there were cracks appearing all over the place as soon as he went baby, because Vince's grand plan was to make him an even less appealing babyface hero than Roman Reigns had been.

Somehow, this wasn't the worst thing 'The Fiend' was involved in during Bray's run under that guise. Worse was on the way, which was almost unbelievable once HIAC 2019 faded to black. 'How could things get worse?!', people queried.

'Just you wait', said McMahon's spent creativity.
