WWE's Biggest Booking DISASTER Every Year (1986-2026)

1. Pat McAfee Isn’t Welcome (2026)

When the book is written on WWE's 2026, Pat McAfee's name will come up whether he ever returns to the commentary desk or not. His name will be greeted with either stunned silence or nervous laughter, then eye contact will be made and sentences like: 'What were they even thinking?' will be spewed forth.

Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes speaks for itself. It's the kind of feud that doesn't need anyone else, certainly not someone who's relatively new to the WWE realm and doesn't carry the same weight with fans as these ex-Legacy stablemates. That summed up general feeling on Pat's involvement.

Commentators claimed that he was a game-changing ally for Orton, and McAfee himself alleged that he could make Randy a main eventer. Yes, that's 14-time World Champion Randy Orton. Y'know, a dude who had won Royal Rumbles, headlined WrestleManias and done it all long before this.

TKO's sway influenced Pat's newfound positioning, but they need to know the truth: He ruined the build towards Cody vs. Randy at 'Mania 42, and they're to blame for it. WWE know they got this wrong, which is why they decided to try again sans McAfee later in the year.

Pretending that Pat was Paul Heyman, Bobby Heenan or any number of other iconic managers? Baffling. Everyone responsible for scripting this got it wrong. Really wrong.
