There's never a good time to be sidelined with an injury, but WWE's Bron Breakker got hit with the injury bug at one of the worst possible times.

The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported on Sunday that Breakker will be out of action for an undetermined period of time following hernia surgery. Breakker "had surgery for a serious hernia... no word on how long he'll be out," Meltzer wrote.

Breakker had a disappointing run in last weekend's Royal Rumble, drawing #2 and being eliminated immediately by Oba Femi after a masked man jumped Bron at ringside before he could enter the ring. On Raw the following Monday, Breakker opened the show by tearing up the ringside area, flipping over the announce desk, and threatening to hold the program hostage. Raw GM Adam Pearce would kick Bron out of the building for the rest of the night.

While the storyline was just in its infancy, speculation about the mystery attacker centered on Seth Rollins, whom Breakker put on the shelf in October in an angle, but, in reality, Rollins had suffered a torn rotator cuff at Crown Jewel, necessitating some time off. A Rollins vs. Breakker match at WrestleMania 42 would be the logical conclusion, given the circumstances.

There were already question marks about this rumored 'Mania match, given the uncertainty surrounding Seth Rollins' status, but Bron Breakker's injury could cloud it even more. While guidelines vary, medical advice suggests that patients recovering from hernia surgery would need to wait at least six to eight weeks before resuming weight training and serious physical activity.

WrestleMania is ten weeks away, so anything is possible.

Regardless, the hernia is just another dousing of cold water on Bron's WrestleMania 42, as it was recently reported that he was originally slated to win the men's Royal Rumble this year, but plans were changed to Roman Reigns winning the Rumble and going on to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship instead.
