With AJ Lee having made her WWE return on this past Friday's SmackDown, there are now a few more details on a return that looked for so many years to be an impossibility.

Of course, AJ appeared during the closing segment of the latest SmackDown, coming out to attack Becky Lynch after the Man had once again belittled CM Punk and again started slapping him. While the Second City Saint threw out the possibility of getting his sister, Bayley, or Rhea Ripley to get some payback on Becky for him, Punker ultimately turned to his wife to get that job done - marking AJ Lee's first appearance since the night after WrestleMania 31 back in 2015.

Following SmackDown, footage surfaced online of AJ signing a new WWE contract, complete with the classic Triple H 'pose' picture. And now, BodySlam.net has a little more information on what lies ahead for the former Divas Champion.

In terms of AJ's contract, that is said to be a full-time, multi-year deal, with this agreement said to be evidence that "something bigger" is being planned and that WWE will be "investing in her as a cornerstone of the division again".

So, for those thinking this AJ Lee return may well be a one-and-done arrangement solely for her to team with CM Punk against Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins at Wrestlepalooza on 20 September, it certainly sounds like AJ will be sticking around for far more than just that one mixed tag match.

To highlight how much buzz AJ Lee's return has generated, that return garnered over 120 million views across WWE's social media platforms in the 24 hours after SmackDown. Up next for Lee is an appearance on Raw tonight, where it's expected that she'll formally announce her in-ring return for Wrestlepalooza.
