WWE may have been interested in signing Britt Baker at some point in the not-so-distant past, but it doesn't sound like the reigning AEW Women's World Champion was interested in heading to Stamford.

Baker's boyfriend, Adam Cole, revealed WWE's interest in Britt during a recent appearance on Renee Paquette's Oral Sessions podcast. The former NXT Champion stated that WWE officials had told him to let them know if Britt ever became available, doing so while she was "knocking it out of the park" in AEW.

Speaking with Paquette and Miesha Tate on their Throwing Down show, Baker acknowledged and confirmed the WWE interest - but noted that it wasn't reciprocated (h/t Fightful):-

"It's no secret, [Adam] has already said it, that cat is out of the bag and I'm not going to get in trouble. WWE was definitely poking the bear a little bit through him recently, when I was still with AEW. 'Hey, we're interested in her,' without teetering the line of contract tampering, they definitely let me know that they had interest in me, but it wasn't a mutual thing. I'm very happy with AEW and thankful for the opportunities and this is where I want to stay."

A day-one AEW signing, Baker was the first member of the women's division unveiled at the promotion's big reveal in Jacksonville, Florida in January 2019. Initially struggling for traction as a babyface, an early-2020 heel turn yielded near-immediate returns for Baker, who became one of AEW's most popular acts and a quarter-hour ratings draw with her new act, climbing the kayfabe ladder to eventually claim the Women's World Title from Hikaru Shida at Double Or Nothing 2021 this May.

Britt signed a new multi-year AEW contract in September.
