WWE's Singles Title-Holders In 2016 - Ranked Worst To Best

11. Dolph Ziggler (Intercontinental Champion)

In one sense, all Ziggler's Intercontinental Title win did was interrupt the exemplary work of a title holder who will appear later. In another sense Dolph's pursuit of the mid-card strap made it seem like the most valuable artefact in the wrestling universe.

Say what you will about Ziggler's lacklustre reign on SmackDown, but when a rivalry over a belt ends up with one of the competitors putting his or her career on the line in the name of winning said belt, the belt gains prestige. It may have been more compelling for Ziggler to lose that contest but as we have seen with his recent heel turn, he isn't done in the WWE, so a five week reign is all The Showoff needed to properly adjust his trajectory.
