6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (8 December - Results & Review)

1. Never Give Up Versus A Submission Machine

WWE Raw Gunther

Looking at the field for The Last Time Is Now Tournament, Gunther really was the obvious and only choice to be John Cena’s final opponent. The story writes itself.

But Monday night, Gunther wrote his own version of that story, and he succinctly hit it out of the park.

The Ring General spoke about how it was an honor to be Cena’s final opponent, putting over his career as the “greatest sports entertainer of all time,” but he was about to face the “greatest professional wrestler of all time.” Gunther then called for a countdown clock to be displayed to let fans know how long they had left to admire their hero, a hero who “never gives up.”

Gunther had decided that beating Cena wasn’t enough. He wants to break his spirit, push him around, bully him, and then squeeze his head until the only way out is to “force you to do the one thing you’ve never said you would do… give up.”

10/10. No notes. If you weren’t invested in this match yet, that sold it perfectly.

And if you still are grumbling, you really should just go watch something else.
