10 Weird (But TRUE) Facts For WWE In 2025

Last year, this column featured an item noting that a Black superstar did not win a WWE PLE singles match for the entire calendar year, and that drought had actually stretched back to Backlash 2023.

Well, WWE figured out a way to avoid that problem in 2025 by booking Jade Cargill against Naomi in a grudge match at WrestleMania 41, which Jade won, breaking the streak at 23 months. Naomi and Jade would pick up an additional five singles PLE wins during the year, rendering this moot.

However, no Black male wrestlers notched a singles PLE win in 2025. The last Black man to win a WWE PLE singles match was… Bobby Lashley at Elimination Chamber 2023. That’s a stretch of 1,047 days and will top at least 35 months before the next PLE, which is the 2026 Royal Rumble.

There’s a decent chance it will be more than three years before a Black male wrestler wins a singles match on a WWE PLE. That’s ridiculous when you consider the talent on the roster.
