You Won't Believe Which Top Wrestler Almost Debuted Under A MASK!

Maybe WWE chiefs were right about booking this wrestler better than the competition.

Older fans will recall that WCW first presented Paul 'Big Show' Wight as the son of iconic big man Andre The Giant when he landed on screens back in 1995. Known simply as The Giant, the wrestling rookie instantly targeted Hulk Hogan before eventually settling into a groove as a member of the nWo.

Get this: Originally, Giant was supposed to debut under a mask.

Ex-WCW alumni Sonny Onoo dished the detailed on this story during an appearance on AdFreeShows. There, he told fans that he'd actually found an old mask belonging to Andre in his collection. Onoo didn't even know he had that at the time, but he brought it to WCW's attention and they considered putting the thing on their new monster for the feud with Hogan.

Of course, this would've been explained on TV by the announcers too, because hardly any wrestling fans at the time associated masks with Andre. He'd worked as Giant Machine under a hood previously though, so there was a story to tell.

WCW decided against muddying the waters with The Giant in the end. They figured it might be too confusing and unnecessary.
