10 Massively Underrated DC Villains

4. Psycho-Pirate

Roger Hayden was just a small-time criminal until he found the Medusa Masks, three masks capable of manipulating the emotions of others. He melted them down into a single faceplate and became the Psycho-Pirate.

Psycho-Pirate's powers make him incredibly dangerous, crippling opponents with fear of making them turn against their allies on a whim. He can also drain people's emotions, leaving them catatonic. In fact, this power forms a lot of Psycho-Pirate's motivation. He is addicted to feeding off of other people's emotions, even though it causes him a great amount of pain.

What really makes Psycho-Pirate interesting is what happened to him during Crisis on Infinite Earth's. He was recruited by the Anti-Monitor as part of his multiverse spanning army and had his powers boosted to control entire worlds.

After the event ended, Roger was one of the only people in existence to realise that the world had been changed and his memories of the old universe drove him completely insane.

Psycho-Pirate has continued to menace the heroes of the DC Universe over the years, although his career did take a brief hiatus when Black Adam shoved his mask right through his face. Most recently, he drove the Superman-lite hero Gotham insane, causing him to nearly destroy the city he had dedicated himself to protecting.

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
