Next up for your consideration is Powers, a police procedural comic book story following two homicide detectives who investigate murders involving people with superhuman abilities known as powers. Created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming, Powers was first published by Image Comics in 2000 before moving to Marvel offshoot Icon in 2004. Mixing the superhero genre with crime and noir Bendis and Oeming create a fresh and original story as we see the action through the eyes of the cops. With a surprisingly high body count Powers flips the old comic book clichés on their heads to make it an essential and suspense filled read.
