10 Astounding Facts To Get You Pumped For Black Adam
6. On Two Occasions, He Was Left Mute
Black Adam may seem invincible but he has one simple weakness; his voice. His only means of accessing his divine power is to call out Shazam's name. On two occasions, he has been rendered mute, preventing him from using his full power.
In the War of the Gods storyline, The Wizard managed to trick his former disciple into reverting to Teth Adam. While in his mortal form, The Wizard had Adam's vocal cords severed, trapping him in a human body. After living as a mute for four years, Teth Adam's voice was restored by Shazam's daughter, Blaze, allowing him to take on the mantle of Black Adam once more.
In the Forever Evil series, Adam found himself at odds with an evil version of Superman called Ultraman. Adam blasted the corrupted Man of Steel with a magical lighting bolt, not knowing that Ultraman's strengths and weaknesses are inverted to Superman.
Magic doesn't weaken him, it makes him stronger. Superman's evil doppelgänger laughed at Adam's futile attempt to defeat him and then crushed his jaw, preventing him from utilising his magical powers against Ultraman's allies.
Although Adam's mandible recovered due to his healing factor, his power was heavily impaired for several hours.
