10 Avengers Who Should Join The MCU Next
7. Human Torch
Now this one is cheating a little bit since the original Human Torch has technically already appeared in the MCU. However, a tiny cameo in the background of Captain America: The First Avenger is hardly enough to discount him from this list.
Weirdly for a guy who's superhero name specifies how human he is, the Human Torch isn't. Jim Hammond is an android who was created in the 1930's as the world's first artificial human. He also spontaneously combusts when exposed to oxygen because Professor Phineas Horton didn't think to build him out of materials that maybe don't do that.
The Torch (his more factually accurate and potentially copyright avoiding name) is one of Marvel's very first superheroes and a founding member of their WWII superteam the Invaders. The character went unused for a long time after Stan Lee introduced the far more famous Human Torch, but eventually the original was brought back and has gone on to be part of the West Coast and Secret Avengers.
The pre-Avengers history as seen in things like Agent Carter and Ant-Man is full of potential for a lot of interesting stories. Introducing the Human Torch to that world would be a great way to finally pay off his cameo and expand this corner of the MCU.
Plus, a version of the Invaders with Human Torch, Peggy Carter, Ant-Man and the Wasp would be damn cool.
