10 Awesome Antiheroes From British Comics Creators

2. Rorschach - Watchmen

Alan Moore’s Watchmen is one of the most influential comics of the 80s, and inarguably one of the most famous. Inspired by characters from Charlton Comics, Watchmen is a gritty look at a superhero group who is a far throw from characters like the Avengers.

One of these characters is Rorschach, an antihero who, like V, believes his ends justify his means. Rorschach does not believe in anything that goes against his ultimately fascistic moral code. Because of this code, he fights with the other characters in Watchmen, most notably Dr Manhattan who recognises the ambiguous nature of the villain, Ozymandias’ actions.

Rorschach’s mask is a symbol that is synonymous with the comic and became a fan favourite of readers, much to Moore’s surprise. His violent actions and strong morals created a character that is complex and draws the audience in.
