10 Most Awesome Characters To Have Worn A Power Ring

5. Carol Ferris

Carol Ferris is probably the most important female protagonist in the Green Lantern stories. Like most DC females with their male counterparts, she was originally just a damsel in distress for Hal Jordan to rescue. However, in later years, she became an unwilling enemy of Green Lantern by becoming the Star Sapphire. She was eventually rid of her evil persona, but claimed a new Sapphire ring when she had a vision of Hal dying in the War of Light. She has been key to defeating many enemies of the different Lantern Corps, and she is the only Sapphire be able to tame the Predator, the emotional entity of love. She also achieved royalty briefly when she became queen of the Star Sapphires, although she soon gave the title up. However, more important than her exploits as a Sapphire is her enduring presence as a strong female character. She€™s already successful on her own merits by becoming president of Ferris Air Corp. She€™s also one of the most important people in Hal Jordan€™s life, both romantically and keeping him down to Earth (metaphorically speaking). Although their relationship seemed to be reignited at the beginning of the New 52, Hal and Carol recently went their separate ways, and she€™s been traveling with Kyle Rayner and the Templar Guardians across the universe. As the only main Star Sapphire character, Carol has maintained an important presence in the word of Green Lantern, and will likely keep doing so for some time.
