10 Awesome Comics That Need To Be TV Shows

1. Preacher

Preacher

We have finally reached the number one spot and I feel that this position could only be filled by the one and only Garth Ennis created, Preacher. Following the life of preacher, Jesse Custer, who after becoming possessed by the offspring of an angel and a demon travels across America to literally find God to ask why he has left his people alone. A simple enough concept one might think. Along the way is befriends an Irish vampire, reignites the flame of romance with his ex-girlfriend, visits parties that would make the Marquis de Sade blush and has to fight against a society trying to protect the Holy Grail. This comic is the perfect example of why certain stories are meant for the comic format, but once you have worked your way through the issues, there is part of you that wants to see these characters embodied by actual people on the screen so you can relive the action again and again. Many people over the years have tried to adapt the series for both the big and small screen, but have not been successful due to many reasons, but mostly because of the subject matter. At times it does sway into the overly perversely sexual or highly blasphemic, but if someone were brave enough to face the controversy that this show would be bound to bring; they would have a dedicated fan base that would stick with the show from beginning to end (as long as the source material wasn't messed around with) and would be able to bring in new viewers from the start because of excitement and furrow that would surround the show because it was finally getting made. Even if this comic never gets picked up from a series, and due to its content, I doubt it ever will; can I just recommend you picking it up and giving it go. I assure you, even if you haven't read a comic before it will hook you from the very start and you will be begging for a television series! What do you think? Feel free to comment?
