Nailbiter, written by Joshua Williamson (Birthright, Ghosted) and drawn by Mike Henderson (Venom) boasts one hell of a delicious high concept that is likely to intrigue anyone who has a soft spot for the classic serial killer thriller. Image Comics describes the series as delivering 'a mystery that mixes Twin Peaks with the horror of Se7en', which is pretty spot-on. It should be more than enough to set the pulses racing of fans of novelists James Patterson or Jeffrey Deaver but also of the two kings of off-kilter cinema, the David's Lynch and Cronenberg. Nailbiter posits the question 'Where do serial killers come from?' and begins it's answer in Buckaroo, Oregon, a small US town that has given birth to sixteen of the world's worst serial killers. The series follows NSA Agent Nicholas Finch, who teams with local Sheriff Shannon Crane, to investigate the disappearance of his colleague, who had come to Buckaroo to uncover it's secrets. Along the way they are forced to team up with infamous serial killer Edward 'Nailbiter' Warren...who also just happened to be Sheriff Crane's prom date back in their high school days. Awkward. The clever mix of twisted storytelling and flashes of gallows humour make Nailbiter unlike anything else on the stands.
