10 Awesome Comics To Convert New Readers

2. Batman (DC)

Scott Snyder (American Vampire) and Greg Capullo (Spawn) have been telling arguably the best superhero stories in the comic book industry for their 38 issues of Batman, which began in September 2011. From The Court Of Owls to Death Of The Family; from Zero Year to their current opus Endgame, each new blockbuster somehow seems to top the previous one. Snyder, one of the premier talents in the business, seems born to write Batman. He has a tremendous handle on all the denizens of Gotham City, with his vision of The Joker being particularly memorable. Joker is the focus of Endgame and is at his horrifying best. Snyder writes him as a horror movie character, a boogeyman so implacable and menacing that the very mention of his name makes even the Batman nervous. Snyder plays cleverly with the idea that Joker just might be more than human; is he, in fact, supernatural in nature? Has he been intertwined throughout Gotham's history in ways no one has ever seen before? Or is this simply his latest, most fiendishly intricate scheme to make his enemies believe he is more than just a man? Either way, there is no doubt that Batman is a tremendous read each and every month, and anyone who enjoyed Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy will get a kick out of these stories.
