10 Awesome Ways To Celebrate Batman's 75th Anniversary
4. 25th Anniversary Edition Of Tim Burton's Batman
The 75th Anniversary of the Dark Knight is also the 25th Anniversary of his first big-screen incarnation in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. As a milestone that helped pave the way for the dozens of superhero films we currently enjoy today, Batman had quite an impact a quarter-century ago - if you watched the WonderCon panel, you saw how much guys like Kevin Smith respect this film. The current disc is already pretty loaded with extra features, and there's no telling what the 25th Anniversary Edition will include when it drops this fall. Hopefully there's some backlot footage or a deleted scene or two, but who knows if any unseen clips even exist. Unfortunately, there's an outside chance that Warner Brothers will just (re)repackage the film in shiny foil and charge you an arm and a leg. But that doesn't mean the Year of the Bat shouldn't include Burton's Caped Crusader. With a few petitions already garnering signatures for a theatrical re-release (don't hold your breath!), Keaton's Batman will certainly be facing off against Nicholson's Joker a few more times during the anniversary year.
