10 Awful Comic Book Characters That Don't Deserve A Movie Adaptation
4. Gin Genie
We've all had a few too many pints at one time or another and started to feel like a superhero, but the Gin Genie takes this concept to the next level. Gin Genie can create seismic waves that become more powerful the higher her blood alcohol gets. This caused problems for the super-powered lush when she lashed out at her X-Statix teammates and jeopardised team missions by getting too soused. But honestly, what did they expect after teaming up with a hero who grows more powerful with each Jaeger bomb she tosses back? Gin Genie would be great fodder for a raunchy Hangover-style comedy that celebrates the highs and lows of binge drinking, but once you transplant her into the family friendly arena of Marvel superhero films things start to get problematic. According to the World Health Organization 320,000 young people between the ages of 15-29 die from alcohol-related causes each year. If this impressionable demographic sees Gin Genie triumph over evil using the power of alcohol, we could see a dramatic rise in the number of fistfights and Girls Gone Wild videos. Marvel should think twice before it makes itself the target of teetotalers and organizations like MADD. Gin Genie's tipsy antics could very well contribute to the 2.5 million worldwide alcohol-related deaths each year and leave Marvel open for a host of class action lawsuits.
